Zilong
A machined designed for modularity and tactical flexibility, the Zilong – while an already capable machine is capable of equipping a number of special tactical packs in order to broaden its capabilities on the battlefield. When not equipped with any SpecPacks the Zilong is capable of limited flight and is armed with four torso mounted light auto-cannons, leg mounted grenade launchers and a pair of concealed combat knives stored in the bucklers on both forearms.
The Zilong is usually armed with either a heavy assault rifle complete with a bayonet, or a semi-automatic railgun.

SpecPacks:
Mobility Pack: Commonly armed with a light assault rifle. It uses a five-thruster variant of the Pagoda Thruster System and mounts various stabilizers. In terms of weaponry it mounts missile launchers on the shoulders and a single machinegun on the torso.

Urban Warfare Pack: Commonly armed with a Shotgun or a light Assault rifle. Includes a large shield, a pair of torso mounted machineguns, smoke launchers, flash bombs and modified leg mounts similar to the Knightmare Frame’s land-spinner system to facilitate greater ground speed.

Close Combat Pack: Commonly armed with a Shotgun or Heavy Assault Rifle. Replaces bucklers with heavier variants – one contains a built in Chainsaw, the other has a flamethrower. Has a shoulder mounted rocket launcher, a machinegun, and shaped explosive charges placed at strategic areas of its body set to detonate towards any incoming foes.

Support Pack (Direct Fire): Commonly armed with a Gatling Gun or a Bazooka. Includes a large shield, additional armour plates, a pair of back mounted cannons and shoulder mounted rocket pods.

Support Pack (Saturation): Commonly armed with a Heavy Assault Rifle. Includes a pair of mortar cannons and multiple missile launchers.

Reconnaissance/Sniper Pack: Commonly armed with Light Assault Rifles and Sniper-modified railguns. Replaces one of the bucklers with a target painter. Additional sensor systems, information relays, and electronic warfare suites are included.

Fu Xi
The Fu Xi is for all intents and purposes, a Zilong that has been taken to a different level. Designed to be the machine of the Chairman-General himself – the Fu Xi makes a callback to Cheng’s past machines and revived them into a new form befitting the State. The machine itself is highly mobile – using a combination of the Gucun-Offshoot of the Tesla Drives as well as the Pagoda Thruster system to grant high levels of mobility.

Its armaments include four torso mounted light autocannons, head vulcans, leg mounted missile launchers as well as an assault rifle and a combat knife lined with superconductive materials – allowing it to discharge arcs of energy with each strike –both having racks to store them on.

In addition, the Fu Xi also uses a unique SpecPack – arming it with back mounted railcannons, shoulder mounted missile launchers, a twin Gatling shield on its right arm and a rapid fire grenade launcher and quad-machineguns on its left along with more armor. The Fu Xi can at any time dethatch its SpecPack to allow it increased mobility.

Nezha
The prototype for the Xingba series of Combat Frames. This machine is a high speed close combat monster utilizing the newly developed Pagoda-Type thruster system with a total of eleven high powered thrusters located at various sections of its body in addition to the various standard ones. The Nezha was a beautiful failure, bringing out the development of new systems yet it could not stand on its own.

Among the many flaws the machine had the sheer amount of heat the machine produced due to the Pagoda System’s usage often threatened it with several severe system shutdowns and errors. Coolant constantly boiled away – leading to external coolant containers on the machine that only seemed to delay the problem rather than fix it.
This difficulty however had an unexpected side effect:

The distortions caused by the heat would cause afterimages in the air, essentially muddling targeting and confusing the human eye. It however – was not an acceptable exchange as the machine could potentially cook its pilot alive – or even break down the machine’s systems and send it crashing into something at breakneck speeds.

Because of the overwhelming speeds and the difficulties the machine’s heat problems caused – simpler and more durable targeting systems had to be used – making targeting assistance horrifically limited and ranged weapons on the machine more of a liability than an actual threat. As such it was armed with a Superconductor blade similar to the Fu Xi, along with a modified version of a massive Chainsword recovered from the battlefield where Jun Wei's bodyguard had fell.

The only weapon mounted on the Nezha was the Shockwave System - a close range 360 degree blast of energy designed to put enemy machines onto their backs and make them more vulnerable to assault. The system itself takes practice to use well – and the energy draw often makes the Nezha sluggish after use. No other weapons could be mounted as the heat could and would damage them.

All these reasons as well as prohibitive costs prevented the Nezha from being mass produced – making the machine essentially a one-off model.

Xingba
The Xingba is a lightly armoured and highly manoeuvrable Combat Frame that is capable of sustained flight. The Scion of the Osprey Combat Frame – the Xingba is a force to be reckoned with in skilled hands, especially in large numbers. Despite using a less powerful version of the Pagoda Thruster System than the Nezha unit, the Xingba still manages to reach astonishing levels of speed without causing any undue damage to its pilot.

Many of the test pilots from the first batch often said that if the Xingba units had been around before the fall of Gucun, their aerial combat capabilities would be a lot more threatening than aerial fire hazards waiting to happen.

The Xingba still retains some of the heat issues of the Nezha, but there are several limiters placed on the machine to prevent it from being pushed to the absolute red. The Shockwave system was downgraded severely into a wrist mounted weapon designed to deflect physical attacks or cause heavy impacts – giving the machine an effective weapon in close combat.

Additional weapons on the machine itself include a pair of torso mounted chainguns and a pair of missile launchers on each arm. The machines are usually armed with light assault rifles, shotguns or in rare cases railguns in terms of handheld weaponry.

Despite lacking the additional speed, the more powerful shockwave system and the sensor muddling capabilities of the Nezha – the Xingba is overall the better machine given the increased armaments, better targeting and reduced heat problems.

Erlang

The Erlang may as well be classed as a Super due to its sheer size. A machine designed to take a heavy beating and not give up an inch – the Erlang takes from the Flood-class Combat Frame designs and has a heavily fortified set of frontal armour with a weaker back section. Normally in certain situations this would be a tremendous flaw, in this case though the machine was designed with the intention to hold choke-points in urban environments where it would be nigh impossible to flank – rendering this disadvantage moot.

Because the Machine was designed with urban combat in mind, it is festooned with short and mid-range weapons – a large number of them being located along its back in order to fend off any enemies that DO manage to get around it.
There are a number of seams along its frontal armor that would appear to be weak-spots to assault. However these in fact hide not only more layers of armor – but several weapons as well. The outer layers of these apparent weak spots often tend to be the thinnest layers of armor – which is not saying much considering its insane frontal durability.

A single test type of the Erlang has been produced in order to gauge its effectiveness in battle.

Wenyuan
The Wenyuan was designed for rapid strikes in urban environments. Utilising something similar to the Dom’s hover system – it was meant to traverse streets and weave between buildings with the greatest of ease.

Because of the Frame’s effective combat range in its area of expertise it is armed with numerous built in short ranged weapons. The Wenyuan can also mount either a cargo container or a personnel carrier on its back – allowing it to be used as a speedy combat transport.

As Gucun’s military is so deeply ingrained into its culture – their soldiers are also essentially their police force. A variation of the Wenyuan was developed solely to deal with civil disturbances rather than actual combat – mounting water cannons and several variable grenade launchers loaded with flashbangs, tear gas and stun grenades in addition to the few actual weapons it has in case things need to get violent.

The Wenyuan was designed to work alongside Erlang Combat Frames to effectively safeguard the state against ground based threats.

Yu Di
The Yu Di is an experimental Combat Frame designed for Han Zhi’s usage. Heavily armored and using a variant of the Heaven’s Wall System pioneered by the development of the Nu Wa it is the weapon of a man who is used to letting others do the fighting for him.

Unlike the Nu Wa however each of the Heaven’s Wall Turrets on the Yu Di is equipped with a Tesla Drive and is capable of flight. And even if the cables connecting them to the Yu Di are severed they are still capable of acting under the Yu Di’s commands – only in a more sluggish manner. The turrets are frighteningly swift, being able to swarm enemy machines in a similar way to funnels and are heavily armored enough to intercept attacks for their parent machine without being destroyed.

Each turret is armed with a triad of beam guns which are capable of firing individually or simultaneously depending on the situation. Firing individually essentially unleashes an unrelenting barrage of beams, whilst firing simultaneously unleashes a blast as powerful as a beam cannon.

The Yu Di itself contains several command and control systems – allowing its pilot to essentially see everything on the battlefield. The machine however is not very agile, and aside from the Heaven’s Wall system it is sparsely armed – using nothing more than a Combat Frame sized Sword and an experimental beam rifle.

Gucun began as an idea. One formed so very long ago, before the technology of today, before the wars of machines and bullets – when swords, arrows and flesh still ruled the battlefields. The Middle Kingdom. The Centre of the world. The Greatest Land.  In its own tongue – China was referred to as all of these – ‘Zhongguo’.

Time moved on and the world as well as war had changed. China was not the centre of the world as its people believed, and their thoughts changed to match that. However, there many groups within Gucun that still believed that China had the potential to be strong – as strong as Britannia, The Principality of Zeon, the Federation – that they could be stronger than any and every foe they faced.

They became the Gucun Party. Different words for the same meaning – the one meaning they etched into the name of their land. They were the most outspoken when it came to strengthening Chinese borders, building up arms and strengthening China by any means necessary. This militaristic stance was ignored, chafing upon the members of the Party and raising their tempers. They burned with a furious anger with the rise of the Chinese Federation – a ‘government’ under the control of the Eunuchs and their puppet emperors and empresses – the Party becoming nothing more than a mere club with no say at all. They raged when the HRL came to demand China become a part of it – carving the country into two when the Eunuchs refused but others agreed – furious in the betrayal to land and people.

The Party declared no more. A call to arms was issued as the March towards the Future was begun – All those loyal to Gucun tore away to form their own land – dividing two into three. Gucun declared themselves the true China and built their settlements and fortresses in the western Province of Xinjiang. Life was harsh – food was scarce and so was farmland – but within the steppes and hilly terrain they found safety – and were for the most part ignored by both the HRL and Chinese Federation as a mere nuisance to be ignored – giving the fledgling state to build itself up in preparation for the Unification Campaign.

The Campaign however was absolutely brutal – armed with but surplus machines and infantry weapons Gucun was outgunned and often outclassed. Gucun had made the mistake of believing that the HRL and Chinese Federation were completely ignorant of what was coming and were repulsed viciously. It seemed that Gucun would face dark days... then the Second Impact happened.

Despite the horrendous loss of life the sons and daughters of Gucun saw great opportunity in the chaos and soon pushed forward through the chaos – succeeding in taking portions of Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet for themselves. With these gains they dug in and established as large a foothold as they could – doing their best to build what they could and raiding for what they couldn’t. Where the Second impact was a time of great grief for some - to Gucun it was when it was truly born.

With their defence solidified they harried at the Chinese Federation and the HRL whenever they could, building the Combat Frames to better take to the field rather than depending on shoddy and outdated mobile suits and massed infantry formations. Gucun’s stubbornness, expertise in defense and heavy firepower and growing number of veterans meant that they would not be dislodged at all – at least... not militarily.

Other measures were taken. Seeds of doubt and contempt, promises of power and wealth, deception, disgrace, cunning – honeyed and poisoned words were thrown about like money in a gambling house until Gucun exploded into violence – not against the HRL, the Chinese Federation or any outside powers... but against themselves. What others could not do – the Gucunese army inflicted upon itself – and when there were stalemates due to numbers or skill, mercenaries and arms dealers soon plied their trade.

In the end, what was left of Gucun – the state and its people – was but a sprawling massive slum filled with the destitute and the broken. The state it was left in made it undesirable for both the HRL and the Chinese Federation to attempt to rebuild or take hold of – and so it was left alone to rot and decay.

Character Name: Hua Cheng Kwan
Character Age: Early Thirties
Preferred Housing: Wherever Cheng will be made the most miserable.

Background:

Cheng is perhaps one of the most ill fated men in the history of his world. He was born the youngest son of a highly ranked and regarded Military Family in Gucun - a Hyper-Militaristic People's Republic that had separated itself from old China to pursue visions of Military Might and Conquest. He was also the least talented in his family, and everyone was quick to remind him. He did not have the combat skill of his older brothers, nor did he have the cunning of his sisters. All he had was mediocrity.

His early life was spent in the Gucun Military academy with many other cadets. He struggled and survived through the many brutal trials that no child should have been put through. Brutal obstacle courses capable of breaking even the most fit man, live fire exercises and survival exercises in extreme conditions. Many of the friends that Cheng had made had washed out of the academy - crippled for life... or without life at all. This would be only the lightest of the trials he faces in his life.

Without any exceptional skills he was placed in the most vicious of warzones among one of the units with the greatest casualty rates. The anti-armor divisions. Purely infantry formations, aimed at taking out enemy war machines - Tanks, Assault Fighting Vehicles and even Mecha. Needless to say Cheng would lose more comrades than he did in the Academy.

After three years came one of the rare high points of Cheng's life. Gucun had finally developed Mecha of their own. The Combat Frames - Durable, ugly, and loaded with plenty of firepower. For a while it seemed that the cruel brutality that life had constantly pushed onto Cheng had faded as he was chosen to be a pilot. His new squad skilled, loyal and brave. Cheng had found himself finally satisfied rather than trapped in a perpetual cold, waiting for death to happen.

It would not last sadly. As time passed on the leadership of Gucun began to crumble, some by corruption, others by stagnation, and even more through jealousy. It soon lead to a massive free-for-all between numerous factions, all trying to seize control... all reducing the city into a sprawling, impoverished slum barely able to support itself.

Cheng himself was ordered to escort several non-combatants and persons of importance out of the Capital and into a designated safe-zone. He failed. His squadmates? Dead. The people he was supposed to protect? Dead. All he could do was get out of there and live with his failure. Throughout his life Cheng has seen death and destruction that war can bring and had grown far too used to losing comrades. It hurt. Every time. Failing what was perhaps the last mission had scarred him.

He wandered the world, lost, broken and without purpose... until she found him. She was the daughter of the Late Chairman-General of Gucun. She however needed more clout, more muscle as it were. Her plans were to revive the State. And thus, she needed him. It did not matter if he was the weakest of his family, his name alone would inspire people to move under her flag. To Cheng her political machinations did not matter. All he wanted was a chance to atone for his weakness and failures. It was a chance to move on, and finally be something of worth, to earn his place in his family.

She had given him a great many things. He was made her second. He was given a machine with so many weapons that the gates of the heavens would fall to it. He was given battle and blood. He was given a cause. And in the end. He was given death... after all... a hero's death would inspire soldiers to greater heights would it not? Especially if that death was blamed on a rival attempting to take what she believed was hers.

Cheng's eyes closed as he bled in the dark and left the hell of his world.

Only to awaken in another.

Personality:

Cheng is a simple man. He was raised to respect those in authority, to protect those under the same banner as him that could not fight, and never to flee from a fight if he could help it. Loyalty and camaraderie are perhaps the two things that Cheng values as well as adheres to the most. As such right or wrong he will stand by a friend, comrade or cause he believes in to the end, and on the flip side - liars, traitors and those who speak ill of those he is loyal to - especially men and women who have died (permanently) would inspire truly immense amounts of ire from him.

That being said however it would probably be easy for authority figures he respects to easily order him around and receive absolutely no retaliation from him at all. Using him as an errand boy, pack mule, a living punching bag or even a doorstop would come to mind.

Additionally, life in Mayfield would be traumatic for him even outside it's disturbing moments. Cheng is a pure career soldier. He has no idea how to operate outside of a military environment and additionally he is utterly flummoxed by many conveniences, appliances and luxuries that the common man and woman enjoy. He would have little knowledge of entertainment - sports related, media and otherwise, and there would be many a social Que he would miss.

Cheng, having being exposed to death, dismemberment and many a horrific injury has been numbed to such things. The emotional pain or shock would be greatly lessened. Moreso after bitterly accepting his failure to escort the civilian convoy to safety during the fall of Gucun. To him death is just another occurrence, like rain or lightning. He will mourn, he will curse, he will take revenge should it be required. But he will accept and endure, and eventually move on.

In terms of romantic entanglements Cheng would clearly have no idea what to do. Throughout the course of his duty he had been completely focused on his tasks - despite the many failures that occurred. In Gucun, marriage and relationships were often arranged, if not managed by the patriarchs of the respective families, or in the case of orphans - by the lesser branches of the governing body.

His motives will almost always be tied in with his duties or a sense of camaraderie. His morals would be somewhat rough, even harsh to others given the place of his birth. He does his best to speak directly and in situations where his comments cause friction with a person he respects he would often mutter an apology and bow out as quickly as possible. That does not mean he does not get annoyed or angry. Being a fish out of water in Mayfield in a great many ways would constantly grate on Cheng as he would have tremendous difficulty adapting to the situation and there would be no doubt that eventually something would make him snap.

Abilities:
Cheng is trained thoroughly in infantry and anti-armor tactics. He is physically capable and is a good shot on foot and in a mech - he does however lose some marks in terms of hand to hand combat. Given his various posts such a skill was entirely useless and thus got rusty over time.

As an infantryman Cheng was equipped with Gucun's Standard Issue Semi-Powered Harness. The Harness protected the user from most low caliber weapons as well as shrapnel while giving a minor boost to physical strength. Standard firearms included a Service Rifle with a 20-round magazine and an anti-tank rifle.

As a pilot, Cheng's machine the Ymir (The non-Chinese name is for psychological warfare reasons.) is essentially for a lack of better term what would happen if someone threw Metal Wolf, a Koenig Monster, and Heavyarms into a blender and then decided that it needed more. The Ymir has 38 weapons systems in total and every single one of them is deadly. The machine is slow and has the mobility of a crippled glacier, but when one sees the sheer amount of guns and armor it doesn't seem to be that much of a disadvantage.

Prompt 1: At Work (Scenario suggested by a friend, too funny to pass up)
[Cheng felt like a caged animal in a zoo - not that he would know what on Earth a zoo was. It was a feeling that had began when he had awoken and it was a feeling that had remained all throughout. His fingers tensed as the little bell rang and another woman-drone came in with child-drones in tow. The little ones making squinty-eyed faces at him.]

[A little corner grocery store. And he was working in it. The racist stereotype behind his current occupation was lost on him, but either way his annoyance was great. He was still having difficulty trying to work the cash register, and the fact that the drones tended to speak long and drawn out words as if he was an idiot never ceased to grate at him.]

Zuzhou wo de shengming...

[There was nothing that could be done at this moment sadly. So like the many incidents in his life, he swallowed his suffering and endured. He plastered a smile on his face as the drone came back with her purchases. Some days he truly wished that he had the Ymir. If only to reduce this shop to a smouldering crater.]

Prompt 2: At Home
[Despite the constant frustration that Mayfield inflicted upon Cheng - from his terrible day job to the little racist drone children to the obviously trying so hard to be polite drone adults... this was one of the few occasions Cheng could finally find some peace.]

Hm... a calm before the storm...

[He sat outside his "home". Looking out at the night sky with a profound sense of calmness. After the frustrations of the day, just looking up at the night sky. Perhaps Gucun Soldiers couldn't and wouldn't be able to live properly in times of peace... but that didn't mean they couldn't enjoy the few benefits that came from it.]

[He grimaced slightly as noise started to come from inside the house. So much for peace.]
Still, totally worth it. The cramping should fade soon.

If the right arm looks a little messy its because I had to redraw it a couple of times.
Totally tried to draw the Ymir.

I have no idea what to think of it.

For convenient perusal for the Mods as well as fellow players, here's a list of all standard CF units. It is to be noted that all CFs with a D rating for certain terrain need special equipment for it.

Combat Frame List

Robot Name: SCF-213 Flood

Robot Description: The Flood was designed purely for the most brutal and unforgiving assaults. This Squat but robust Combat Frame is well armoured and has a series of thrusters placed at strategic locations on its body that allow for rapid movement towards the objective before ensuring devastating it with point-blank annihilation. The Flood’s back armour is considerably thinner than its forward facing components rather than having an even cover due to the fact that it was meant to charge forward and kill everything in one go.

Weapons:

X1 SAF-07L Autogun (Mounted on Torso) A smaller version of the hand-carried SAF-07 Autocannon, the weapons fire a smaller calibre with slightly higher accuracy and a higher rate of fire. There are a total of 175 rounds on board.

X1 SAF-23 Grenade Launcher (mounted on Left shoulder) – A direct fire weapon. Has a total of 4 explode-on-impact grenades: Two high explosive, two incendiary.

Terrain Stats
Land: A

Sea: C
Space: D

Robot Name: SCF-171 Osprey

Robot Description: The Osprey is a lightly armoured (for a Combat Frame) and was designed for scouting and hit and run attacks. A great majority of its frame is festooned with boosters, making it one of the most agile machines in the air. That being said however, the amount of fuel as well as the heat output of the machine makes it a death trap. Many pilots avoid using the machine due to the danger of it detonating on its own or when shot at.

Weapons:

X2 Missile Launchers (Forearm Mounted): Has two high speed missiles to each launcher.

Terrain Stats
Land: D
Air: S
Sea: D
Space: A

Robot Name: SCF-243 Long-Blade
Robot Description: The Long-Blade is regarded as the most versatile Combat Frame developed, as well as one of the most easiest to operate. Striking a balance between armour, mobility and firepower it is a jack of all trades. That is to say however, it is a master of none. Its design layout allows for immense modification possibilities, which were often used as a baseline before developing new Combat Frames altogether.

Weapons:

X1 Rocket Pod (Mounted on Right Shoulder) – The pod contains four high explosive rockets.

X1 Shield (attached to left arm) – A large reinforced angled hunk of metal designed to protect the Long-Blade from everything below artillery-grade weapons.

Terrain Stats
Land: A
Air: D
Sea: C
Space: B

Robot Name: SCF-341 Behemoth

Robot Description: The Behemoth is a heavily armoured bipedal monster of a machine. It is not the most mobile of Combat Frames but what it lacks in that area it makes up for in durability and ranged firepower. The unit is equipped with thrusters that are built into its lower legs and rear torso – though these are merely meant to allow the Behemoth a way of traversing urban environments and mountainous areas rather than sustained flight.

The Behemoth’s major flaw aside from its lack of mobility is that many of the weapons that it uses require support units to reload and even then it would take time for that to happen, leaving it vulnerable. It goes without saying that its limited mobility does not do it wonders for close combat. That being said it is best used as a support unit rather than on its own.

Weapons:

X2 Rocket Pods (Shoulder Mounted) – Each pod is loaded with six unguided high explosive rockets

X2 SAF-31 Cannons (Back Mounted) – The Behemoth’s main weapon, the SAF-31 fire a high-calibre shell at a significantly long distance, though it can and has been outranged. The SAF-31 has a 6- round magazine.

X1 SAF-13X Assault Gun (Arm mounted - Right) – A large gatling gun that is designed to suppress with a hailstorm of rounds. The gun is fed from an ammo barrel mounted on the back of the Behemoth’s right shoulder and carries approximately 800 rounds.

Terrain Stats:
Land: B
Air: D
Sea: C
Space: C

Robot Name: SCF-340 Titan

Robot Description: The Behemoth’s predecessor. It is a massive machine that is less humanoid and seems to be more a walking block of metal and weaponry, it is an outdated but highly lethal piece of hardware that is capable of pulverizing anything in its path. It’s a glacier in its speed, but a highly lethal one.

Weapons:

X2 SAF-31 Cannons (Torso Mounted) – Unlike the Behemoth’s SAF-31s the Titan’s are fed through an internal Magazine.
X4 SAF-13 Assault Guns (Two on each arm) – Smaller than the SAF-13X, the SAF13s fire a smaller calibre at higher speeds. Each gun has an individual feed of 1600 rounds each.
X2 SAF-23 Grenade Launchers (Torso Mounted) – 8 Grenades each.
X2 Missile Racks – 16 Missiles Each. Moderate speed, tracking and damage
X1 SAF-07L Autocannon (Torso Mounted)

Terrain Stats:
Land: C
Air: D
Sea: C

Robot Name: SCF-353 Stormbringer

Robot Description: A Combat Frame that is bulkier than the Behemoth is a concept hard to grasp, but the Stormbringer has managed to bring such a concept to life. Surprisingly though, much of its girth is actually due to several cooling systems, stabilizers as well as external battery packs. The Stormbringer was the State’s dedicated beam-weapon platform, armed with built in beam weapons, as well as one massive hand carried cannon that only it is capable of using.

Like the Behemoth it also suffers from mobility problems. But unlike the Behemoth it cannot weather a significant amount of damage. It is a combat support machine that was designed to be covered and kept from the predations of enemy units.

Weapons:
SAF-52 Heavy Beam Weapon – The Stormbringer’s primary weapon, it is in fact the reason for the many cooling systems and batteries that festoon the Combat Frame. Upon deploying its stabilizers, the SAF-52 undergoes a charge cycle that ends in the unleashing of a massive burst of energy that annihilates almost anything in its path. It however, needs preparation time and leaves the Stormbringer a sitting duck.

X2 SAF-51 Beam Weapons – Built into the Stormbringer, these rapid fire beam guns are meant as a short range defensive option. They are just as effective as the beam weapons the GM series has often used.

Terrain Stats:
Land: C
Air: D
Sea: C
Space: C

Robot Name: SCF-232 Blindsight

Robot Description: Just behind the Behemoth in terms of armour, the Blindsight’s survivability was something of a necessity given its role. The machine was designed primarily as a command and control unit, feeding information, painting targets and in some models actively engaging in electronic warfare against enemy systems.

Due to these systems however, its mobility is just as restricted as the Behemoth’s and is far more lightly armed due to the lack of room available. As such Blindsight units are often posted at a distance from the battlefield and are often armed with SAF-31Bs or SAF-46es.

Terrain Stats:
Land: B
Air: D
Sea: C
Space: C

Robot Name: SCF-333 Type A and Type B (Arbalest and Ballista respectively)

Robot Description: The SCF-333 was developed as a missile deployment platform; however opinions had been split on the size of the payload the Frame should deploy. So the two schools of thought were given free rein to develop the machine as they saw fit and created two similar, yet different machines.

The Arbalest was designed with smaller targets in mind. Armed with several missile launchers, it would essentially swarm its target, or multiple targets with a barrage of explosive death. The Ballista on the other hand was developed as a siege weapon and as such depended on large warheads to decimate its targets.
Both types are well armored, but unlike other Combat Frames are unable to wield handheld weaponry

Weapons:

Arbalest Loadout:
X4 Missile Racks – 8 Missile payload. High Speed, moderate tracking, moderate damage
X6 Missile Racks – 3 Missile payload. Moderate Speed, High tracking, moderate damage
X2 Swarmer Racks – 74 Micro-Missile Payload. High Speed, moderate tracking, low damage

Ballista Loadout:
X2 Heavy Missile Racks - 4 Missile Payload. Low Speed, moderate tracking, high damage
X4 Missile Racks - 2 Missile Payload. High speed, poor tracking, high damage.
X1 Fury Launcher – A single missile of undeniably tremendous damage. A quarter of what an N2 explosive can unleash.

Terrain Stats:
Land: C
Air: D
Sea: C
Space: C

Optional Hand Carried Weapons

Hand Carried Weapons: (Optional weapons for the frames - most frames always have at least two of these.)

SAF-42 Shotgun: An automatic shotgun - lethality depends on how armored the targets are, but even then is still a deadly weapon due to the amount of “flak” its rapid-fired rounds produce. It can utilize 15 round Magazines, 45 round drums and can be belt fed from a barrel containing up to 350 rounds. Aside from its standard spread-shot ammunition the SAF-42 also has solid core slugs capable of dealing immense blunt force impacts.

SAF-09 Combat Rifle: The SAF-09 is a reliable weapon on the battlefield due to its accuracy and high fire rate. However, the calibre of its ammunition leaves a lot to be desired. The SAF-09 has a 60 round box feed. An alternate version of the SAF-09 also has an underslung grenade launcher to compensate for the lack of true damage potential.

SAF-03 Pistol: Perhaps the weakest weapon available to the Combat Frames, it still maintains usage as a backup weapon due to its light weight. It has a 12 round magazine.

SAF-05 Machinecannon: A sub-machinegun on steroids, it is perhaps one of the best close quarters weapons the Combat Frames have available. The SAF-05’s primary ammunition were designed to be a mechanic’s nightmare by fragmenting upon piercing enemy armour thus leading to damage to various systems. Its secondary ammunition type was a “soft” round which would then burst into flames, acting like napalm. Tertiary ammunition is similar to the SAF-09’s rounds and is perhaps unremarkable. Standard Magazine size is 45 rounds.

SAF-01 Close Combat Weapon: The SAF-01 is for a lack of better term, a large CF sized cleaver. It is not however, a weapon to be underestimated.

SAF-07 Autocannon: Among one of the most favoured weapons in the SAF’s repertoire. The SAF-07 is loaded with high calibre rounds that were but a few steps away from the SAF-31’s lethal payload and has a balance between firing speed and accuracy but suffers from its weight. It utilizes a 30 round magazine.

SAF-31B Cannon: A lighter, less accurate and shorter ranged version of the SAF-31 cannon. It has an 8 round magazine. Due to its weight it is often best used from a distance.

SAF-46 Sniper Rifle: More of a railgun than an actual Sniper rifle, the SAF-46 is almost on par with the SAF-31 and SAF-52 in terms of lethality. However it is a weapon that takes time and skill to utilise to its full capacity as even the smallest of deviations in a shot can cause problems.

SAF-50 Beam Gun: The State’s only mainstream beam weapon, it is somewhat underpowered compared to other beam weapons. However it has a lower maintenance cost so the argument is invalidated somewhat.

SAF-12 Chaingun: In an effort to try create a weapon that could combine the strengths of the SAF-09 and the SAF-05 the SAF-12 was created. A belt fed weapon that maintained a high fire rate with considerable accuracy, but had often dealt with heat and jamming problems. Nevertheless, when fired in bursts the problem is mitigated somewhat.

Upgrade Request: Ymir and Jotunn

Request Summary: A two in one machine like the Virtue and GP03: the Ymir is the heavily armored outer layer that is slow and bristling with heavy weapons, while the Jotunn is a well armed machine that sacrifices its armor to maintain a shocking amount of speed and agility for something with as many weapons as it does.

The Jotunn will be completed before the Ymir due to the fact that it's the primary component. That and the fact that the Ymir is a huge pile of bullet hell waiting to happen and needs MUCH TIME to build.

Robot Name: Jotunn

Robot Description: As mentioned in the request summary the Jotunn is the speedster of the two as well as the area where the pilot is located. The principle of the machine is to unleash hit and run attacks of a devastating magnitude. Due to its lighter frame it has to use weapons with less kick than what the Behemoth had.

Jotunn weapons:

X2 SAF-31C Cannons – A more compact version of the Behemoth's main cannons.

X2 SAF-05C Machinecannons - Dual Barreled rapid-fire weapons that are mounted at the sides of the Jotunn's shoulders.

X1 SAF-12 Chaingun – Mounted on the Jotunn's torso.

X2 SAF-23 Grenade Launchers – Mounted on the top of each shoulder

SAF-09B - A modified SAF-09 Rifle, designed to fire a higher calibre, albeit at slower speeds. The SAF-09B is also equipped with a bayonet, the effectiveness varies.

NOTE: Certain weapons belonging to the Ymir can be detached and used by the Jotunn. These will be marked with a [D] in the Ymir's entry.

Terrain Stats:
Land: A
Air: B
Sea: C
Space: A

Robot Name: Ymir

Robot Description: The Hulking Mass that surrounds the Jotunn. The Ymir is more a walking weapons platform designed to be the center of every enemy's cross-hairs and give as good as it gets. The purpose of the machine is to saturate specific areas of a battlefield with truly horrific amounts of weapons-fire. It is most certainly not an agile machine though and is highly vulnerable to faster enemies.

Ymir Weapons (Because of the Sheer amount of them, this list is organized by limb):

Left Arm:

X3 SAF-13X Gatling Guns [D] (Yes. All three Gatling guns count as one detachable weapon)

X1 External Missile Rack (20 Missiles) [D]

X1 Swarmer-Micro Missile Rack (Located in Shoulder – 216 Missiles)

X1 Shield – A particularly massive example of a shield. It is capable of linking together with its twin as to grant further protection at the expense of firepower. The shield itself is also an offensive weapon, containing two SAF-51 Rapid Beam Guns and a retractable blade.

Right Arm:

X3 SAF-13X Gatling Guns [D]

X1 External Missile Rack (20 Missiles) [D]

X1 Heavy Missile Rack (Located in Shoulder – 12 Missiles)

X1 Shield (Same as left arm)

Torso:

X4 SAF-12 Chainguns (Central Torso)

X2 SAF-23 Grenade Launchers (Lower Torso, Left and Right. Variable Ammunition consisting of Incendiaries, High Explosive and Anti-Beam Chaff)

X6 SAF-31 Cannons (Mounted on Armatures connected to Rear torso – Firing position is over shoulders. 3 on left and right sides. Cannon has variable ammunition types consisting of Standard, Armor Piercing, Cluster and High Explosive.)

X4 SAF-51 Rapid Beam Guns (Each one is located on the upper and lower section of the torso’s left and right sides)

X4 SAF-42 Shotguns (Mounted on upper torso, two each on left and right sides)

Legs:

X4 Rocket Launchers (Located on both upper and lower legs. 8 Rockets each)

Hey all

Just wanted to post a few things here. In this journal are PC characters that are a part of Cheng's canon Ironlock. Browse through them, if you want to play with em that would make me happy. If no one's interested the plot bunny will murder them off screen. Enjoy the read folks.

Bao Hua Heng

The Daughter of Zheng Yi Heng, the late Chairman/General of the State of Gucun, and one of the few members of the now crumbled State’s government who lived after its collapse thanks to the sacrifice of Huang Li Kwan. She seeks to rebuild the state to its former glory, along with everything that implies. She is a woman of firebrand conviction, and immense viciousness. If people are not with her then they are either against her or dead, and usually the first leads to the second. Because of her old family ties and military experience a number of Gucun Loyalists had remained under her command.

In Ironlock standalone canon she uses the memory of Cheng’s family as well as a good number of his teammates who stuck by the old establishment to emotionally blackmail him into serving alongside her troops, using him as a figurehead despite his obviously just adequate skills compared to his brothers.

Bao Hua pilots a heavily modified blood-red Blindsight Sniper/Comm&Cont CF that allows her to track even the most minute movements of her own troops and link her Frame’s sensors with their own essentially allowing her to “see” what they “see”.

Xiang Yun Chan

Nicknamed “Feng-Huang” (The King of all Birds in Chinese Mythos) Xiang Yun was a fighter-pilot turned Combat Frame pilot. His relations with the new unit he was attached to was less than cordial in the beginning (due to them formerly being infantry or members of the tank battalions), but eventually they worked well as a cohesive unit thanks to the efforts of the unit’s leader Lieutenant Li Shao Hu.

Xiang Yun is one of the few pilots to have been able to push the sole flight-capable CF to its limits without having the machine explode on him. He is a man proud of his ability, proud of his machine and more than often has a snappy comment to toss at those he regards as “lesser mortals”. Despite this arrogance, those that worked with him knew he earns his keep and often humoured his many boasts.

As Gucun fell apart and the death of Li Shao in the field, Xiang Yun deserted and fled from Gucun after faking his own death – bitterly detonating his own Osprey CF in order to cover his escape. He makes his living now as a pilot for hire, drifting from merc group to merc group. Xiang Yun pilots a distinctively painted orange Osprey CF (having purchased, refurbished and customised a relatively decent one that was not in too many pieces) that features additional boosters as well as light-weight weapons from out of the state that would mesh with his high- speed strafing attacks.

Yong Lin

An orphan who had nothing more than her name and the rags on her back, she walked out of the slums of Gucun to enlist in the State Army rather than wallow in the worst parts of the State and waiting for the worst to happen. Yong Lin was one of the top students at the Academy despite her immense disadvantage in terms of book-learning. Numerous scars mar her athletic build from the sheer amount of brutal lessons and vicious training regimens she endured.

Her candidacy for the CF Pilot program was originally turned aside for more well connected soldiers in the military. But with several washouts from the program, the cast-offs found themselves in the pilot seats – few managing to do better than those they replaced. As time passed Yong Lin became a part of the Long Liao Ya (known to outsiders as the Dragon Fangs) who had been an elite Combat Frame battle-group led by Huang Li Kwan.

As the riots and the various inter-group conflicts raged across Gucun the Long Liao Ya were forced to divide into several groups in order to evacuate numerous officials and abandon the State. When Huang Li’s death was confirmed and several of the other Long Liao Ya squads were cut down, Yong Lin took the reins of command and led the remainder of the Battle Group as well as the V.I.P.s in their care in a brutal escape action.

Currently Yong Lin and a few of the remaining Long Liao Ya pilots work as mercenaries. Yong Lin pilots a Green Long-Blade CF that was designed for mid-to-close range combat and has been modified with parts from various non-CF machines to expand on its abilities. The Long Liao Ya have similarly modified their machines and are mainly made up of armor reinforced Long-Blade CFs.

An Shen Duan

A relatively green pilot who had fought alongside Yong Lin during the breakout from Gucun, An Shen had been the son of a factory worker and a crop-tender (not Farmer, because the farm would actually have to belong to him) who had dreams of rising above his station and perhaps becoming a member of the Military Council, or even better one of the Chairman/General’s honour guard.

Despite this naiveté, which had no doubt been the object of much scorn by his fellows in the academy AND the military he had turned out to be a surprisingly capable soldier, and more importantly he had shown the most patriotic fervour when compared to many others who had been alongside him.

However his dreams were dashed as Gucun tore itself to ribbons. An Shen is now a homesick young man who longs to find some way to transform Gucun back into the glorious place he saw in his childhood.

In Ironlock Standalone canon An Shen would actually be the Protagonist, not Cheng. Then again I would like to mention that in Ironlock standalone canon, practically everyone dies and Gucun doesn’t even warrant a historical footnote after the last battle between the remaining factions who want to build it up in the image they desire.
I decided to do up a bit about Cheng's Life:

Hua Cheng Kwan is born to his parents in a family of seven. During his childhood he is taught what is expected of him, that he is to die for the glory of the Gucun people and the State, that his life is meaningless in the long run and that wounds are trifles if he can still move.

Cheng enters into the State Military Academy for Compulsory Military Service. He is Fourteen years old at this time. The training he receives is known for its fatality rate as only 80% of the Academy Students live through training or have not been crippled for life, and 32% of them are known to have disfiguring injuries.  During this time the Second Impact has occurred, one of Cheng's brothers was in combat at this time and was killed as were many others.

Cheng completes his training in the State Military Academy and is sent into combat as a part of the 37th Infantry Division. He is Nineteen years old at this time. These two years are perhaps the most brutal and demanding of his life as at this time the Gucun State is depending on a small amount of surplus Mecha and large amounts of infantry, and the 37th was an Armor Hunting Division. The State proceeded to make several land-grab operations with varying amounts of success.

Cheng is volunteered as a Pilot for the State's recently developed Combat Frames. He is one of the first Fifty pilots who did not wash out of the program. At this time dissent in the state is slowly coming to a rise. The Long-Blade is soon churned out in large numbers and altogether replaces the Surplus machines that were formerly used due to its ease of modification. Cheng is Twenty One years old at this time.

The Behemoth-Type Combat Frame is developed from data gleaned from fire-support modified Long-Blade Combat Frames. Cheng's squad leader has one acquired for Cheng's use.  Unrest in the state has led to riots, rebellion and wars between various factions within the state. One of Cheng's remaining brothers is murdered in an alleyway in the State as he returns from a meeting with various High Ranked officers. Cheng is Twenty Four at this time.

The Gucun State collapses from the immense infighting. During this time Cheng's Parents and two older sisters are killed in a faction raid on his home and his only living brother is killed trying to defend the members of the State's government that their family was loyal to. Cheng escorts a group of non-combatants out of his crumbling home. Cheng is Twenty Six at this time.

Cheng joins White Chalice. He is Twenty Seven at this time.
